The Super Bowl
The first Super Bowl was held in Los Angeles CA in 1967. The AFL was represented by the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL played the Green Bay Packers. It was by all accounts a great game with Bart Starr and the Green Bay Packers winning by a score of 35 to 10. Starr was later crowned the game's Most Valuable Player (MVP). The game was a marketing gimmick. It was an attempt to minimize the friction between two competing leagues (the American Football League - ALF, and the National Football League - NFL). No one knew if it would be a success or even if it would be repeated. Well it was a success and as the years came and went, its success has consistently risen from year to year.
